Globalization has profound effects on national and local cultures and identities. In this regard, the overall effects of globalization on identities are destabilizing rather than harmonizing different identities and cultures. This study aimed to investigate the effects of globalization on social identity (local and Iranian) in the villages of Zabol County. The present study was descriptive-analytical and was conducted using a mixed method (survey and documentary). The statistical population of the study consisted of two groups. The first group included local experts comprising members of village councils, village elders, and knowledgeable local residents, from whom three individuals were purposively selected from each sample village to complete the village questionnaire. The second group consisted of rural youth and heads of households living in 23 sample villages with more than 50 households in Zabol County. Based on Cochran’s formula, a sample size of 351 respondents was determined and selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire (with a reliability of 0.82), and descriptive and inferential statistical methods, the VIKOR model, ArcGIS software and SPSS were used to analyze the information. The findings showed that globalization had the greatest impact on local identity (β=0.185, p<0.01). In this regard, the villages of Zhale'e (Q=0.886) and Karbasek (Q=0.876) had the highest level of impact. Also, the indicators of "fading of indigenous beliefs" (4.68±0.16) and "change in the appearance of youth" (4.45±0.21) obtained the highest average.
